Isomalt is a sugar substitute, which has little to no impact on blood sugar levels and does not stimulate the release of insulin. It is ideal for use in edible decorations, sugar-free candy, chewing gum, baked goods, chocolates and much more.

When is Isomalt used?
Isomalt is ideal for use in edible decorations. It does not brown like sugar does and resists fracturing, so it is often used for making edible decorations. It is especially useful when creating design elements that need to have a clear colour. (Eg: ice cubes, glass, gemstones).
Isomalt is widely used to produce sugar-free candy, especially hard-boiled candy, because it resists crystallisation much better than the standard combinations of sucrose and corn syrup.
Health Benefits:
Isomalt has an extremely low caloric value at only two calories per gram, half that of sugar. It has little to no impact on blood sugar levels and does not promote tooth decay. Isomalt has also been shown to stimulate good bacteria growth in the gut.
It is important to note that excessive consumption of Isomalt may have a laxative effect.
